Can Gallbladder Stones Dissolve Without Surgery? (Pathri Galegi?)
"Can this pathri melt with medicine?" is the most common question from patients diagnosed with gallstones. The honest answer: rarely, and only for a small group of stones. Here's why, and what that means for your decision.
Quick answer: only small cholesterol stones in a well-functioning gallbladder can sometimes be dissolved with a prescription bile-acid medicine taken for 6–24 months — and stones often return after stopping. Home remedies, flushes and most alternative medicines have no proven effect. For symptomatic gallstones, laparoscopic gallbladder removal is the definitive treatment.

A bile-acid medicine (ursodeoxycholic acid) can dissolve some small cholesterol stones. The limits:

Home remedies and "flushes" घरेलू नुस्खे
Apple cider vinegar, lemon water, olive-oil flushes, "pathri-tod" powders and herbal kadhas have no reliable evidence of dissolving gallstones. Some flushes can even trigger a painful attack — read gallbladder cleanse myth.
The risk of waiting with symptoms: a stone can slip into the bile duct (causing jaundice), inflame the gallbladder, or trigger pancreatitis. Once you've had pain attacks, the chance of more attacks and complications is significant.
